Suspect in April crash that killed 3 in Wylie indicted

COLLIN COUNTY - The suspect in a crash that killed a Nevada, Texas firefighter and two children in April was indicted by a grand jury Thursday.

Margarito Qunitero-Rosales was driving a van southbound on Highway 78 in Wylie on April 1 when he lost control of the vehicle, authorities said.

The crash killed Peter Hacking, captain of Nevada’s volunteer fire department, and two children.

Quintero-Rosales was determined to be “asleep or fatigued” at the time of the crash, according to an affidavit released two weeks after the crash. He “disregarded a no passing zone” and “no brake marks were observed” from his vehicle.

He was true-billed Thursday for three counts of manslaughter Thursday, Collin County court officials said.
