DALLAS — Two people were hospitalized Saturday morning after gunfire broke out in front of a South Dallas shopping center.

According to a police report, Dewaylon Scarborough, 27, was standing next to a black Nissan Maxima parked in the 3100 block of East Ledbetter Drive, speaking with two other people, when a silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo sedan pulled up.

A witness said a man with a black handgun got out of the Monte Carlo and opened fire in the direction of the three. Dewaylon Scarborough was wounded in the stomach; Eric Scarborough, 25, was hit in the right leg.

One of the three men returned fire.

The assailant fled the scene.

The conditions of the victims were not available.
