Storm chasers captured dramatic footage of a funnel cloud Monday afternoon near the town of Silverton, about 70 miles north of Lubbock.
The system that spawned this twister is poised to bring rain to North Texas.
The first wave of precipitation arrives Tuesday, bringing a widespread rain event for much of the state. Although rain chances are high locally, rainfall amounts in North Texas for Tuesday through 6 p.m. will not be heavy, averaging between 0.10 and 0.50 inch with this first batch.
Highest totals locally will be in western areas of North Texas during the day Tuesday, and could exceed a half-inch in heavier storms.
Remember: This is only the first wave. Rain chances remain good (on and off) through Wednesday night. We are still looking at nearly everyone getting at least an inch of rain when all is said and done by the predawn hours of Thursday.
