Missing father's body found in Denton Creek

The body of a missing man has been found close to where his boat was originally found.

Trophy Club Police Department say Matthew Meinert's body was discovered around 6 p.m. Friday evening by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

The search at Denton Creek continued throughout the week after 38-year-old Meinert and his 2-year-old son, Oliver, vanished while on a fishing trip Monday.

Game Wardens recovered the body in about 6 feet of water near the area where Meinert's boat was found.

The search for family members began late Monday night when the pair didn’t return. Then, early Tuesday morning, an officer on foot encountered the 2-year-old boy walking through brush alone. Police say Oliver was wearing only a T-shirt and shorts and he had several scratches and cuts from his night alone in the woods. But overall, the boy was in good condition. His first request was to ask an officer for juice.

No foul play is suspected and the family has asked for privacy at this time.
