KAUFMAN -- The Kaufman Independent School District has canceled classes for the day due to a major water outage after an older 12-inch line erupted near the intersection of Highway 175 and Washington Street, according to City Manager Mike Slye.
Crews have been working on the issue since 9 p.m. on Monday and expect to have repairs completed by Tuesday morning.
City officials are asking residents and businesses to minimize their use of water this morning until repairs are completed, as water services are at a minimum throughout the city.
The school district announced on Facebook that there would be no classes Tuesday, and exams will resume with normal release times on Wednesday.
This story will be updated as more details emerge.
