Lockdown lifted after alleged suicidal man detained near Mockingbird Station

DALLAS - A Dallas elementary and the George W. Bush Presidential Center were briefly placed on lockdown Friday morning after police received a report of a possible armed and suicidal man at an apartment.

In a statement released by Dallas police, authorities said they were alerted to a man threatening to kill himself at about 6 a.m. in the 6000 block of Melody Lane. Upon arriving to the scene, police found a threatening suicide note that indicated he may harm others in addition to himself, the statement read. The suspect had already left the scene.

Stonewall Jackson Elementary School and SMU were placed on lockdown as police searched for the man, who was found armed with two pocketknives at about 9:10 a.m. in the 5400 block of E. Mockingbird Ln. He was arrested without incident and transported to a nearby hospital for an evaluation, the statement read.
