Fort Worth celebrates opening of new dog park

FORT WORTH - Fort Worth residents and  their canine companions will soon have a new place to play.

Zbonz, the city’s newest dog park, officially opens on April 9th.

ZBonz is a 10-acre, fully irrigated park built on the former site of the Z. Boaz Golf Course.

The park is divided into two sections, 7 acres for large dogs, and 3 acres for small dogs.

It’s also has two shelters, various agility items, pet fountains, two aerated ponds, a dog wash station and 12 dog waste stations.

The park was part of the 2014 Fort Worth Bond Program, but the project expanded thanks to private donations.

ZBonz had a soft opening a few weeks ago,  but the park will celebrate its official grand opening at 10 a.m. on April 9 .

Dogs will not be allowed in the park on that day until the ceremonial First Run, which will be held shortly after 10 a.m.

ZBonz will become the Fort Worth’s second dog park after Fort Woof.

The park is located at 6950 W. Camp Bowie Blvd.
