DALLAS — An elderly man who was pulled from his burning home in West Dallas on Tuesday morning has died.
Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans confirmed that Bobby Thomas, 79, passed away after suffering burns and serious smoke inhalation in the blaze that destroyed the home in the 1900 block of Gallagher Street
Mildred Thomas was standing in the front yard when the first units arrived around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. She told firefighters that her husband had collapsed inside.
The house was ablaze and filled with smoke, but rescue teams went inside, found the victim and quickly pulled him outside for initial medical treatment.
Family members said the Thomases had lived in the home for more than three decades.
Mildred Thomas was not seriously injured.
