A bridge spanning Highway 380 in Farmersville was damaged in an accident Tuesday night, forcing the shutdown of the east-west road that links McKinney with Greenville.

Farmersville police said a dump truck on the highway hit the Main Street bridge, which has a 13'-8" clearance.

Three people were hospitalized in the wreck, and the span was damaged.

Texas Department of Transportation engineers were asked to come to the scene and inspect the overpass for structural integrity.

Traffic on both directions of Highway 380 was being detoured around the accident site.

Farmersville is 18 miles east of McKinney in eastern Collin County.
