Starting on Monday, train and bus riders across North Texas don't have to worry about those pesky paper tickets any more.

GoPass is a new, free smartphone app that offers mobile ticketing for passengers on DART, The T and the Denton County Transit Authority.

Users can link a credit or debit card to the app to purchase daily, weekly, or monthly passes. There's no discount for using the app, but there's no extra charge, either.

After buying a ticket, the passenger simply shows the ticket screen to a bus driver or fare enforcement officer.

The app also features up-to-the-minute bus and train schedules and it offers a route planner.

In the coming months, GoPass will also be able to let passengers with an annual pass use their smartphone in lieu of the traditional photo ID badge.
