DENTON -- Denton is the latest city in North Texas to ban texting and driving.
Just a couple of weeks ago, the City Council passed an all out ban on texting and driving, as well as surfing the Internet, like getting on Facebook or Twitter, behind the wheel.
The idea is to reduce the number of distractions and ultimately save lives.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, one in four accidents on our roadways are a direct result of distracted driving. If caught, you could get a $200 ticket.
Denton is the fourth city in North Texas to implement the ban, behind Arlington, Grand Prairie and Farmers Branch.
Governor Rick Perry recently vetoed a statewide ban, leaving the law up to cities themselves.
