LEWISVILLE –– She looks nine months pregnant, but Sherilyn Hurdles belly is actually distended with a giant, watermelon-sized ovarian cyst.

Sherilyn is among those caught in a frightening healthcare gap: she can't afford health insurance and doesn't qualify for medicaid. She reached out two weeks ago in a desperate search to find help removing the growing cyst.

Hundreds of News 8 viewers responded to the story, including a doctor.

Thursday afternoon, Sherilyn is scheduled to undergo surgery to remove the cyst. Doctors will also determine if its cancerous. News 8's Janet St. James will be tweeting the surgery.
