Denton County attempted murder-suicide
A husband shot and killed himself after attempting to murder his wife in their suburban Denton County home late Saturday, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Spokesman Tom Reedy said emergency dispatchers received a hang-up phone call at 11:17 p.m. that originated from a residence in the 1300 block of Oak Crest Drive near Aubrey. When deputies visited that location, they found a 50-year-old man dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a 48-year-old woman who was shot in the abdomen.
She survived the attack and was rushed to surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Reedy said. He does not know her current condition. There was a 23-year-old special needs woman in the home at the time of the incident who shared the last name of the wounded wife, Reedy said. A family member is taking care of her.
The spokesman was not aware of any past incidents of family violence at the home.
Nobody has been identified.
