CORINTH — SWAT officers were able to free a woman after she was threatened by an armed man at a home on a flag-lined street in Corinth Friday evening.

A short time after the woman was safe, around 6:15 p.m., police found a man dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the residence in the 1700 block of Villa Court.

The man was identified as 48-year-old Paul Grosshans and the unnamed woman was described as an acquaintance.

Nobody else was hurt in the incident adjacent to Oakmont Country Club. Part of the golf course was closed off and several neighbors were evacuated during the police operation.
