DENTON COUNTY — Aircraft returned to the skies over Denton County Saturday night to continue the attack on mosquitoes that transmit west Nile Virus.
Cities that were sprayed on Friday night were getting their second dose of insecticide, but windy conditions cut short the air assault in eight cities before the first night of operations was complete.
These cities will be sprayed Saturday and Sunday nights:
- Southlake
- Westlake
- Roanoke
- Trophy Club
- Haslet
- Flower Mound
- Lewisville
- Castle Hills
The Centers for Disease Control reports nearly 1,600 people in the U.S. have been infected so far this year, the highest total ever.
Nearly half of all cases are in North Texas.
Alaska and Hawaii are currently the only two states reporting no West Nile cases.
