DENTON -- Police are investigating what caused a deadly crash early Tuesday morning on Interstate 35 in Denton.
A Nissan Altima being driven by a 32-year-old man was heading south on the I-35 frontage road, south of Milam Road, just before 6 a.m. when the driver lost control. He crossed both lanes of traffic and hit a light pole on the median. The impact caused the engine to separate from the car.
The driver, who hasn't been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved, but two cars passing by were damaged by debris.
Police are investigating, but say the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed.
