DALLAS –– Police on Monday issued a capital murder warrant for a 20-year-old man in the shooting death of another man during an aggravated robbery in north Dallas the night prior.

Police were called to the 11500 block of Ferguson Road at 10:46 p.m. Sunday following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Ryan Delshaune Saunders lying just inside the front door on the floor of the apartment, a police report says.

He was shot in his neck and died at the scene. Witnesses told officers that two suspects entered the apartment and began demanding cash from Saunders, 28. The police report says one of the suspects shot him and then began rifling through his pockets.

The report says $1,100 was taken from the apartment. According to a release, the suspects were at the apartment to purchase marijuana.

On Monday, officers issued a warrant for the arrest of Frank Deonne Moran, 20. An arrest affidavit says four witnesses identified Moran and told officers that he frequently bought marijuana from Saunders. On Sunday, he was there under the guise of buying and smoking the drug. In reality, he and an unnamed accomplice pulled pistols and pointed the guns at everyone inside.

A witness, says the affidavit, saw Moran shoot and kill Saunders. He took property from the victim and another witness. The two men then fled.

The affidavit says the witness identified Moran on a photo lineup. He has a $1 million warrant out for his arrest.
