DALLAS -- A wrong-way driver caused a multi-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 20 Friday night that left the highway closed for hours.
Dallas County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Carmen Castro said Saturday morning that two motorists were taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center for treatment; one of them was reported in critical condition.
Earlier on Saturday, the Dallas County Medical Examiner's office said it was not aware of any fatalities resulting from the crash.
At about 9:15 p.m. the wrong-way driver hit several vehicles on I-20 between Hampton Road and Polk Street. It was not clear how many vehicles were involved.
The Dallas Police Department requested the highway be shut down, forcing traffic to the access road and causing a backup of at least two miles. The closure gave authorities room to transport victims from the scene and to investigate the crash.
Investigators were delayed in arriving at the scene, as they were working multiple accidents Friday night.
