Should Fuel City keep its white buffalo on display?
DALLAS — The owner of a high profile Dallas gas station has caved to pressure from Native Americans and animal rights groups.
John Benda says Fuel City will no longer use a white buffalo — an animal some consider sacred — as a way to promote its business.
"I wanted the people of Dallas to see what a White Buffalo looked like," Benda said. "We reached this happy agreement that she will go to a sanctuary."
The white buffalo will be donated to Native Americans. The gas station's decision means it will no longer be subject to potential protests.
It continues to maintain a herd of longhorn cattle in a small pasture behind Fuel City on Riverfront Boulevard just south of downtown Dallas.
