DALLAS -- Two people were killed Monday afternoon when they crashed in a closed HOV lane on Highway 67 at Ledbetter Drive, Dallas police said.
Dallas police spokesman DeMarquis Black said the black sedan was traveling southbound in the closed HOV lane when it hit a protruding concrete barrier, then spun and burst into flames.
Traffic in both directions on Highway 67 was shut down following the fiery accident. One lane each direction was moving as of 3:30 p.m. according to Dallas police Maj. Max Geron, but major backups remain.
The incident remains under investigation.
The identities of those killed have not been released.
