DALLAS — Your water is safe to drink. That's the message from Dallas Water Utilities.

Some residents said they were concerned about the quality of their tap water after getting a document in the mail saying the utility failed to meet "minimum treatment technique requirements" at its Elm Fork Treatment Plant.

The incident happened during a leak on December 10, and the notice said, "our water system failed to properly disinfect the drinking water for a period of more than four hours."

Water utility officials say their product "was and is" safe to drink.

The utility is required by law to notify customers when something like this happens.
