DALLAS -- A kindergarten boy has died after falling off some playground equipment at his DISD elementary school.

Six-year-old Robert Llanaz fell and hit is head on a pole on Wednesday afternoon at John Carpenter Elementary.

The child's parents took him to Children's Medical Center where he was treated for several hours and released.

At 3 a.m. Thursday morning, his parents took him to Charlton Methodist Hospital, where an hour later he was pronounced dead.

In a letter to parents DISD said it was a "tragic accident."

The district said the child was part of an outside organization's after-school program and was being supervised.

The family declined speak to News 8.
