A standoff early Thursday morning between Richardson police and a barricaded man ended without injury, a spokesman said.

The incident was a result of a domestic dispute between Cedric Garner and his estranged girlfriend at her apartment in the 300 block of Prestonwood Dr. Public records show Garner, 31, has no permanent residence. Richardson police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Perlich said he showed up around 1 a.m., triggering the argument.

Garner soon assaulted the woman, who left the apartment and had a neighbor call police. Perlich said Garner then barricaded himself in the apartment.

A SWAT team had to breach the door because Garner refused to communicate with police. He did not have a gun but made comments that caused police concern, Perlich said.

The suspect has previous assault convictions and now faces two enhanced third-degree felony charges. He is held in the Collin County Jail on $60,000 bond.
