DALLAS — Hundreds of White Rock Lake homeowners packed a meeting Tuesday night where they loudly voiced opposition to a proposed restaurant at Boy Scout Hill.

"The first time I heard of this proposal it struck me as such an arrogant and egregious breach of public trust," one speaker said.

Boy Scout Hill is a green space on the northeast side of White Rock Lake, near the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Buckner Boulevard.

Neighbors, long-time lake-area residents and regular park visitors said they were outraged that the developer and the city would consider any development on the unspoiled landscape.

"What you're considering is taking one of the most beautiful views in Dallas, overlooking White Rock Lake and downtown — that is free to all citizens of Dallas — and then you're wanting to charge the citizens of Dallas for that view?" a speaker asked.

Those who attended the meeting got a chance to see the proposed restaurant and to voice their concerns. But without community support, it might be difficult for the project to move forward.
