DALLAS — A new park that caters to pooches and their owners opened its doors Wednesday in Dallas' Uptown neighborhood.
Mutts Canine Cantina is located on Cityplace West Boulevard. Luke Saunders took his dog, Ike, to the patio-restaurant hours after it opened.
"Being able to bring your dog and keep them in a safe area and be okay and be able to enjoy a beer... it's a positive thing," he said. quot;I like it a lot!"
Kyle Noonan, one of the owners of the cantina, told us the idea is to give owners a chance to relax while trained attendants keep an eye on their pets.
"We offer treats, dog water, and then we have this huge 2.5-acre park that your dog can run around in while you sit at your table," Noonan said. "If your dog is causing trouble or making trouble, we take care of it on both ends."
There are some rules. Vaccinations have to be up-to-date and certain breeds are not allowed. Also, owners have to pay a fee per dog: $4.95 a day or $9.95 a month.
Saunders signed up.
"I did the monthly pass since I'm going to be here a lot," he said. "We will give it a try and see how it goes."
