DALLAS — Police officers opened fire on an armed man in West Dallas Saturday afternoon.
Dallas police spokeswoman Senior Cpl. Melinda Gutierrez said officers were called to the 3100 block of Chihuahua Avenue around five o'clock to investigate a complaint of about 15 men drinking and shooting guns.
The first units to arrive found just one man in a vehicle at that address. As two officers approached him, the man allegedly pointed a handgun at one of them.
"Fearing for their safety, the officers fired their weapons striking the suspect," Gutierrez said in a written statement.
The 46-year-old suspect was wounded and taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was reported to be in critical but stable condition Saturday night, Gutierrez said. His name was not released.
No police officers were injured .
