HIGHLAND PARK -- A Highland Park woman was barely able to lock a burglar out of her home after he robbed her at gunpoint in a side yard of her home.

The suspect entered the fenced-in side yard of a residence in the 3500 block of Lindenwood Avenue Tuesday around 9 p.m. and then confronted the resident when she walked out of her home. The suspect put a gun to the woman's neck and took her watch and smartphone.

He then ordered the victim back into her home to retrieve money from her wallet. After she walked in, the resident quickly turned and locked the suspect out of her home.

Highland Park police released a description of the suspect Thursday and are asking for the public's help to identify him.

He is described as a white male about 28-32 years old, with a medium build (around 180 lbs.), with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a dark-colored, zipper-style jacket and blue jeans. It is unknown if the suspect fled in a vehicle or on foot.
