DALLAS — A pedestrian was injured Monday evening after being hit by a DART Blue Line train.
The accident happened at 5:10 p.m. at the Convention Center Station downtown during the rush hour.
DART spokesman Morgan Lyons said the victim was taken to Baylor University Medical Center to be treated for a possible broken leg. No one aboard the train was injured.
According to initial reports, Lyons said it was possible that the pedestrian was distracted while having a conversation with another person on the platform. He also said all crossing lights and bells were operating properly as the northbound train approached the station.
"The operator also applied maximum brakes to the train to slow it as much as possible while entering the station," Lyons said in a written statement.
Red and Blue Line trains operated on a single track around the accident, leading to delays on all lines through downtown Dallas.
DART resumed regular rail service shortly before 6 p.m.
