DALLAS — There was a note left with a baby who was abandoned in Dallas over the weekend.
The baby boy was found Saturday afternoon in the 1900 block of Medical District Drive, just feet away from the emergency room at Children's Medical Center.
News 8 has learned that the the child was left in a stroller with a note on Saturday afternoon.
The person who found the baby flagged down a police officer. According to Child Protective Services, the note had information that helped the agency identify the baby's parents.
Investigators are not saying who is responsible, but they are trying to figure what motivated this person to leave the child alone.
The baby is okay and is living with a foster care family for now.
The Baby Moses law in Texas means there is no need for a parent with an unwanted baby to abandon him on a streetcorner.
An infant up to 60 days old can be taken to the nearest hospital, fire rescue station, or EMT station in the State of Texas without the need to provide any identification, as long as the infant is not injured.
