LAKE HIGHLANDS -- A one-alarm fire Wednesday morning in a Dallas neighborhood may have been caused by a gas line.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the fire in the 10800 block of Mapleridge Drive at 10:18 a.m. Upon seeing smoke in the backyard, firefighters quickly put out the fire, limiting the damage to the outside of the garage behind the house.
Firefighters say a gas meter in the backyard was spewing flames, but it's unclear if the gas line was the source or if it was exposed to a flame that was caused by something else. Atmos Energy is also unsure what caused the fire.
One resident was in the home when the fire started, but police got him out of the home safely. He was asleep during the fire and said he did not hear an explosion.
