DALLAS -- Nearly all lanes of northbound U.S. 75 was shut down early Wednesday morning after a man jumped off an overpass and into traffic.
The highway was completely reopened by rush hour.
Eyewitnesses say Dallas police were chasing the man on foot just after 1 a.m. after the suspect caused a disturbance inside a convenience store near Lemmon Avenue.
After running for approximately one block, eyewitnesses said the suspect grabbed the top railing of the overpass crossing Central Expressway and jumped over, falling about 25 feet to his death.
It is unclear if the man died from the jump or a passing car. The victim's name has not been released.
The Dallas police officers involved were not injured.
