Multi-vehicle accident
DALLAS -- The northbound lanes of Interstate 35E were shut down near Commonwealth Drive Wednesday morning due to a 12-vehicle accident involving at overturned 18-wheeler. Authorities reopened the freeway just after noon.
The accident occurred before 10 a.m. Wednesday when a vehicle cut off the FedEx 18-wheeler, which was hauling two tractor trailers. That caused a chain-reaction crashes as the trailers fell perpendicular across the highway.
There are no reported injuries at this time. The southbound lanes of I-35E were also slow all morning due to curious motorists trying to see what happened.
The driver suspected of cutting off the 18-wheeler was taken into custody, as he had no driver's license or insurance, only a Mexico-issued identification. The driver's name has not been released.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
