Fatal Dallas robbery
Dallas police say a man was fatally shot during a robbery at a south Dallas convenience store Thursday night.
According to a police report, two suspects approached Ernest Griffith Jr. and his wife at 7:34 p.m. as they sat in their truck in the parking lot of the Sunnyvale Station at 3621 Sunnyvale St.
The suspect near the driver's side window pointed a gun at Griffith, 43, and ordered him out of the vehicle. The report says the robbers demanded money and then shot both Griffith and his wife, who has not been named.
When police found the two, they located their black Ford F-150 on the curb of 2660 Marfa, located about a half block away from the robbery. Griffith was shot in the head, his wife was struck in the upper body.
Griffith died at Baylor Medical Center. His wife was taken to the hospital and was able to retell the incident to investigators. Dallas Sr. Cpl. Sherri Jeffrey said investigators do not believe the victims knew their attacker. She was unsure if surveillance footage captured the robbery.
The female victim's condition is not known.
