DALLAS COUNTY — Strong winds fanned the flames as firefighters battled a house fire on the outskirts of Wilmer in southeast Dallas County early Sunday morning.

The alarm was sounded at 4 a.m. in the 2000 block of East Mars Road.

The fire caused extensive damage to the home and a pickup truck in the driveway, but no one was injured.

Fire departments from surrounding communities joined Wilmer firefighters in battling the stubborn blaze.
