MALTA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities have identified two sailors who died in a head-on crash in Saratoga County.
The Saratoga County Coroner identified the men as Joshua Williammee of Texas and Joshua Smith of central New York. Both were 20. They died Thursday when their Hyundai collided with another car on Route 9 in Malta, 20 miles north of Albany. Police say Williammee was speeding and passing another vehicle when he skidded into an oncoming car.
Smith's father, Kevin Smith of Syracuse, tells the Syracuse Post-Standard that the young men were training to become nuclear engineers at a Saratoga County Naval training facility. Smith said his son graduated from West Genesee High School in 2010 and Williammee was from Garland, Texas.
They had just secured an apartment.
