DALLAS –– A suspected drunken driver slammed into a Dallas police squad car at about 2:40 a.m. Friday on Interstate 35 just south of Inwood Drive.

Humberto Jimenez, 44, drove into the back of one of two squad cars that were pulled over to the shoulder for an unrelated traffic stop, said department spokeswoman Sherri Jeffrey. The impact caused the cruiser to collide with the second.

The two Dallas squad cars were parked on the shoulder of the 8800 block of Stemmons Freeway, with their emergency lights on, Jeffrey said.

No one was inside of either of the squad cars at the time and no officers were injured. Jimenez was arrested for driving while intoxicated and driving without a driver’s license. He was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
