DALLAS — A Wendy's restaurant at the corner of Jim Miller Road and Samuell Boulevard in East Dallas burst into flames Wednesday evening after a car crashed into the building.
There were no initial reports of injuries.
Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said the car appeared to have rammed through the back of the building and then hit a natural gas line, sparking the one-alarm blaze that was reported just before 7 o'clock.
While a number of people were dining and working at the restaurant, Evans said everyone inside escaped without injury.
The driver of the sedan that hit the restaurant could not be located, Evans added.
Firefighters were able to limit the damage to the drive-thru area of the restaurant. Evans said they were waiting for Atmos Energy to shut off the gas supply.
