DALLAS – Dallas police have issued a capital murder warrant for a man suspected in a double slaying at an apartment near Love Field last month.

On Nov. 26, Ivan Garcia, 29, and Santana Rodriguez, 19, were shot and killed in an apartment in the 3300 block of Cedar Plaza Lane, not far from Lemmon Ave. A third victim survived and pointed out Paul Robert Pickens in a photo lineup while in the hospital.

Pickens, 20, was arrested on Nov. 27 and charged with two counts of capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He remains at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center on a total of $2,050,000 bail.

According to a police affidavit, Pickens didn’t act alone. A man who was simply referred to as ‘June’ was responsible for killing Rodriguez, police say.

On Monday, Dallas police announce they’ve secured a capital murder warrant for Demetrius Sterns, 20. He has a criminal history that includes burglary of a habitation and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Police stress that Sterns is likely armed and dangerous. If anyone can help find him, you’re asked to call homicide detective D. Thompson at 214.283.4824.
