DALLAS -- If you're looking for something fun to do on a budget next month, the Dallas Arboretum is the place to be.

For the entire month of August, the Arboretum is offering $1 admission. It's all part of August Dollar Days, sponsored by Time Warner Cable and its Connect a Million Minds initiative (CAMM).

Admission to the Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden is an additional $1. Area Vice President at Time Warner Cable, Steve Dvoskin, says the company is trying to inspire the nation's future problem solvers and innovators in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

"Our partnership with the Dallas Arboretum is a natural fit to fulfill that initiative, particularly the Children's Adventure Garden where visitors can experience hands-on activities and be inspired to learn how STEM is applied to all things in the world of gardening," Dvoskin said.

Marigolds, zinnias and begonias are just a few of the flowers you'll find blooming at the Arboretum in August. According to their website, general admission to the main garden for adults is usually $15. It normally costs $10 for a child's ticket into the Children's Adventure Garden.

"For only $2 per person, this is a perfect opportunity for new visitors of the Dallas Arboretum to enjoy the beautiful gardens and experience the nationally acclaimed Children's Garden at an incredibly affordable cost. As always, members receive free general admission and free parking," Dallas Arboretum Board Chairman Brian Shivers said.

During August Dollar Days, visitors to the Arboretum can also buy $1 food items like small drinks, smoothies and hot dogs.
