18-wheeler turns into DART power pole
DALLAS –– Dallas Area Rapid Transit was forced to power down its rail lines through downtown Dallas as crews worked to fix a power pole damaged by an 18-wheeler that turned into it Tuesday morning.
Power was restored just before noon.
The truck damaged the pole when it tried to make a right turn off Pacific Ave. onto Griffin St. at 5:50 a.m. The driver turned too sharply, sending its load into one of DART’s power poles, said spokesman Mark Ball.
DART trains got by slowly during the morning rush, although Ball said crews had to shut down the power to the tracks in downtown temporarily beginning at 9 a.m. There were no injuries, he added.
Regular service should be restored by mid-afternoon, Ball said, long before New Years Eve revelers head out for the night.
