DALLAS — Dallas police suspect a drunk driver in a crash that killed two people early Monday morning in West Oak Cliff.
Aaron Henry, 25, is facing two counts of intoxicated manslaughter.
According to investigators, the inebriated motorist — traveling at a high rate of speed — ran a red light at the intersection of West Davis Street and North Gilpin Avenue around 12:30 a.m.
That vehicle struck another car that was attempting to make a U-turn with two women — one of them pregnant — two men and a toddler inside, witnesses said.
"When I heard the explosion I knew what it was," said Jason Ybarbo, among the witnesses.
Good Samaritans broke out the windows of the victims' vehicle to get them out in case leaking fuel sparked a fire.
One of the Good Samaritans said Henry appeared to be driving at least 60 mph from what he witnessed.
John and Jeanette Marie Wilkins, both 57, were killed in the crash. The two other adults and were rushed to area hospitals for treatment. A spokesman with the Dallas Police Department said the toddler was taken to the hospital "to be looked at."
