DALLAS — A body was found floating in White Rock Lake just north of the spillway near 8200 Garland Road Tuesday afternoon.

Dallas Fire-Rescue firefighters and paramedics recovered the body near the shoreline. Police have not released any additional information about the deceased, but sources told News 8 it appears to be a partially-clothed African-American woman.

The body was discovered by someone walking along the White Rock Creek trail near the Dallas Arboretum. It made regular visitors to the scenic trail nervous.

"I wasn't really surprised; stuff like this just happens," said jogger Jocelyn Peña. "That's why I don't come here on my own. It's very scary.

The Dallas police homicide unit is involved in the investigation.
