DALLAS — A 79-year-old woman found murdered in her East Dallas home may have been dead for two days before police found her body.

Investigators said Avanell Cowgill was last seen alive last Thursday, possibly at a store.

Police discovered her body Saturday during a welfare check at her home in the 11300 block of Earlywood Drive.

Investigators called this slaying particularly brutal. They aren't releasing a motive, or saying whether anything was taken from the residence.

A reward for information leading to Cowgill's killer has grown to $15,000.
