ELLIS COUNTY — A theft suspect was taken into custody Tuesday evening after leading multiple police agencies on a two-county high-speed pursuit.
The chase ended just northwest of the Waxahachie city limits at 6:20 p.m. when a law enforcement vehicle forced the suspect's Chevy Cavalier sedan off Westmoreland Road and into some trees.
The suspect, who was identified as 22-year-old Charles Elliot Ziebolz of Red Oak, was taken into custody by Ellis County Sheriff's deputies. They said the man had stolen his father's car
Ziebolz was charged with evading arrest, interfering with an emergency call, and possession of marijuana. No bond was set..
It was not immediately clear where the chase began, but the suspect drove north almost to downtown Dallas before circling to the south, driving on Interstate 35E and then on two-lane rural roads and making dangerous maneuvers through several neighborhoods.
