MESQUITE — It started with every girl's dream moment — walking down the aisle with her daddy, then given away to the other man she will love and cherish for the rest of her life.
But this was no ordinary ceremony.
Earlier this week, we told you the wedding of Victoria McClure and Kevin Stixrud came together in just two weeks so that her terminally ill father, Joey McClure, could be a part of it.
Support came in from their church, the Mesquite First Assembly of God; bridal shower vendors; and News 8 viewers — all of whom wanted the McClure family to get the wedding moments they deserved.
"Just to see the joy in Victoria's face and Kevin's face... the tears when they said their vows," said Victoria's beaming mom, Donna McClure.
"This day is not just me getting married, it's about my family and my dad and just these moments that we're never going to be able to relive again," Victoria said.
"Such a blessing of God toward us that we don't deserve, but we thank you so much," her father said with a big smile.
Victoria ended her evening in the arms of her husband, but thanks to the kindness of others, she was able to share it with a joyful dance in the arms of her father as well.
