Three dead in Oak Lawn
DALLAS –– Surveillance footage from a neighboring business captured a man fatally shooting three people outside an Oak Lawn nightclub Sunday morning, according to an arrest affidavit.
Rigoberto Vazquez Hernandez is jailed on a charge of capital murder. He is being held at Lew Sterrett Justice Center in lieu of $2 million bond due to his immigration status.
Hernandez, 45, is accused of shooting and killing Claudia Balderas, 22, Francisco Martinez, 27, and another unidentified man outside the San Francisco club at 4605 Maple Ave.
At 4:48 a.m., Balderas and another unidentified woman got into a fight in the club's parking lot. The affidavit says Vilma Vicente, Hernandez's girlfriend, got involved and was struck by the unknown male.
Hernandez then approached, clutching a handgun, the affidavit says. Police say he then shot the unknown man and then shot Martinez. Hernandez then separated Balderas and the woman she was fighting. The affidavit says he then shot Balderas.
All three shooting victims died at the scene.
Dallas police asked the notary public business next to the shooting for copies of its surveillance footage. According to the affidavit, police pulled still photos of the shooter from the footage. Vicente identified Hernandez as the shooter, the document says.
Hernandez turned himself into police on Sunday.
