HEATH -- City of Heath authorities say a missing 12-year-old boy who prompted a search in that Rockwall County community Tuesday night was found dead.

At 9:12 p.m. Tuesday, Heath Department of Public Safety officers received a call regarding a missing 12-year-old in the 1700 block of White Road. A ground and aerial search began in the area, and at 10:09 p.m., one of the search teams found the child deceased.

A Department of Safety spokesperson said there is no reason to believe there is a threat to other residents. Justice of the Peace Nancy Beatty said the boy's cause of death will be determined by the county medical examiner.

Rockwall ISD spokesperson James VanDyke said the boy was a sixth grader who attended Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School. State testing was postponed for the school's sixth graders Wednesday and counselors were made available for students and teachers.

District officials said they did not want to speculate on cause of death pending more information from the DPS and medical examiner.

The boy has not been identified.

Heath, on the eastern shore of Lake Ray Hubbard,  is located 20 miles east-northeast of Dallas.
