DALLAS - It's Monday in North Texas and children across the area are waking up and readying for the first day of school.

From bus routes to the school dress code, sometimes there are those last-minute questions you need answering during the first week of school.

The Dallas Independent School District created a back-to-school hotline to answer just such questions during the first week of school.

From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 30, DISD says parents can call 972-925-5437 (KIDS) to find details on:

  • Enrollment
  • Bus routes
  • Reduced school lunch applications
  • Immunization requirements
  • School locations
  • Hours of operation

Preparing for the new year, DISD buses also recently made dry-runs on routes throughout the city. The district tracks buses using a GPS system.

"Last year, we had glitches and practices like this help us eliminate those," said Mike Miles, Dallas Independent School District superintendent.
