Davis said one of the officers, a 26-year veteran of the department, "was forced to use deadly force." He was placed on routine administrative leave as the shooting is reviewed. His name was not provided.

The 50-year-old suspect, died later at a Dallas hospital. The woman who was killed, age 49, lived with the suspect. Police said the two "were involved in a romantic relationship." Their names were not released.
