IRVING -- A motorcyclist was killed after falling off a bridge late Wednesday.
Police say the unidentified man was speeding as he was taking the exit loop from southbound State Highway 161 to Westbound U.S. 183.
Halfway through the exit he lost control, become dislodged from the motorcycle, and fell from the bridge to the grassy area approximately 50 feet below. He was killed on impact.
The unoccupied motorcycle didn't do any further damage as it continued to skid around the loop, finally coming to a stop about 200 yards away.
Police did not elaborate on how fast the man may have been going, although they are still investigating.
No other vehicles were involved. Southbound lanes of SH 161 were shut down in the area but have since re-opened.
The victim was wearing his helmet.
